Republican Arrested for Voter Registration Fraud

So does this mean we'll hear the GOP accuse themselves of voter registration fraud, too? Of "stealing this election"? Of "destroying the fabric of democracy" as McCain decried last week?

Highlights:
"The owner of a firm that the California Republican Party hired to register tens of thousands of voters this year was arrested in Ontario over the weekend on suspicion of voter registration fraud."

"Jacoby's arrest by state investigators and the Ontario Police Department late Saturday came after dozens of voters said they were duped into registering as Republicans by people employed by YPM. The voters said YPM workers tricked them by saying they were signing a petition to toughen penalties against child molesters."

"YPM has been accused of using bait-and-switch tactics across the country. Election officials and lawmakers have launched investigations into the activities of YPM workers in Florida and Massachusetts."

"The firm was paid $7 to $12 for every Californian it registered as a member of the GOP. "

Yes, anyone that fictitiously registers voters should be prosecuted. It doesn't matter which party you are working for.

Exactly skb. And this is just one case, versus the thousands from ACORN. Trying to turn this into a partisan thing is ridiculous and a stretch.

I see the outrage of this is deafening. I wonder if Obama will call out YPM in his rallies? Or maybe Biden will challenge the California Republican Party on their "associations" with this group?

Let's face it, both parties have factions that are guilty of this. But only one side seems to be yelling it the most loudly from the rooftops. Why is that?

Again, this is like apples to oranges and a stretch at best. Obama was an advisor and lawyer with ACORN. Acorn has made up people as opposed to registering them as a wrong party. Both wrong, I'm not condoning one. But at least they are real people and just one. There is a huge difference between the two.

Obama is well within his rights to call out this firm in his rallies if he wants to.

I don't believe it matters at this point...unfortunately...this is spin by the liberal media to take away from the huge Acorn issue...Obama will win by stealing the election...he is waaay ahead of the game as far as this voter registration goes...

Meringue...Really????? How will he be stealing the election? Is Mickey Mouse really going to show up on Election Day and vote? And you honestly believe that?

And SKB your right...Obama is well within his right to challenge the GOP and question these idiots from YPM...but it's a non issue. Because Voter Registration Fraud isn't the problem. It's VOTER FRAUD. Big Difference. But, what Obama is challenging is Voter Suppression. Like what happened in Ohio. And what basically happens every election cycle. Low informed voters in low income, minority populated neighborhoods are suppressed. But I don't see the Media Elite challenging those officials. And Obama could tackle that in his stump speeches, but why would he? Is talking about voter suppression going to somehow fix health care? This stupid bailout? And the fact that my home is worth $100K less now then when I bought it? NO. He's actually talking about the issues, instead of scaring people like Meringue to believe Peter Pan or a dead guy is going to "steal" an election because he "pals around with terrorists" or he's some Christian "Muslim" like some the McCain/Palin supporters seem to be spewing these days.

GS...Apples to Oranges is right. I don't disagree with you there. But what's the big deal about Obama once defending ACORN? They've never in their 30 years of existence been found guilty of anything. They've assisted in prosecuting workers who are guilty of the crime, but never as an organization found them to be guilty of condoning it. They continue to run as a non-profit and government hasn't found anything to revoke any government support. Every election cycle ACORN and voter registration fraud is thrown in as a scare tactic by Republicans. So why all a sudden is this a bigger deal now more then ever? I mean, here's a group that considers themselves "Community Organizers". They work in cities where minorities are populated. They back Barack Obama. You do the math on where I'm headed. Why this year of all elections ACORN is now a bad word? Just like Muslim is nowadays. Sad, sad, sad....
